J.M.+J.T.

Dear friends of M.A.R.Y,

Greetings at long last from smoke-free hills!  It has been a hot summer in more ways than one. The Caldor fire looked as if it could come straight up through Placerville to our area, but it deflected and went east, to the peril of South Lake Tahoe.  Our Paschal candle was burning until we replaced it with another one, and we were on our fourth when we finally felt we could slack off.  May God bless those intrepid firefighters, and may He console those who lost property and possessions in the flames.

Our orchard has done quite well in the drought!  We’ve had cherries, apples, pears, peaches, and we’re now fighting a lone marauding bear for the plum trees.  It’s a toss-up as to who will win this contest!

We’re excited to be participants in the Avila Institute’s Virtual Rosary Crusade, taking place on October 7th, at 4:30 PM California time.  Different Catholics like Scott Hahn are leading each decade, and your Carmelite Nuns will be in the beginning!  To register, go to the Avila Institute’s webpage, click on “Events” along the top of the page, and find the “Rosary Crusade: Victory Against the Darkness” button from among the selections.

After registration, an email will be sent to you with a link to connect to the rosary presentation, which will be streamed nationwide.  We pray that God will prosper this initiative to join forces with other Catholics to pray down His grace upon the world!

We again express our gratitude for each one of you, so supportive of our community.  You have opened your hearts to us and taken us under your wings.  We thank you sincerely, and besides having a Mass for the Auxiliary every month, we keep you in our daily prayers.  May God bless each and every one of you, and have glorious feast days of Saint Therese (October 1st) and Saint Teresa (October 15th).

 Until the next time,

 Mother Mary Bethany and Sisters

We are blessed to finally have a date for the Carmelite Luncheon!! Please mark your calendars for February 12 at St. Mel’s Parish Center in Fair Oaks. Once again, St. Mel’s is opening their hearts and their space to us for our fundraiser luncheon, and we are so grateful! Let’s make this the BEST luncheon yet!!!

Also, I’m so happy to tell you that the Cookbook is done, and it is so adorable! You will love the recipes and the beautiful artwork by Sister Agnes and Marykate Kauffman! Also, the Cookbook is full of charming stories from the nuns, that will make you laugh out loud. Since the Cookbook is meant to be a fund raiser for the Sisters, we are offering it for a donation of $40.00 or more. You can contact me for your order. My email is pmacegan27@gmail.com. I am working to have the Cookbook available on our website in the near future.

We are so blessed to have this Carmel in our Diocese. They pray for our protection every day. Let us keep them our prayers too!
In Christ,

Patty
